The first nuclear medicine center will be opened in Karaganda

The center of nuclear medicine will be opened in Karaganda region. It will be the fifth in the country.

The center of nuclear medicine will work at the end of next year on the basis of State Municipal Enterprise "Regional oncological dispensary". A PET/CT machine will be installed in the center. It will allow to carry out radionucleid diagnostics, to estimate structure and functional features of a tumour at molecular level. The method makes it possible to detect the smallest tumor foci in the early stages of the disease and obtain a three-dimensional image of the human body with accurate data on the localization and boundaries of tumors.

There are four such devices in Kazakhstan: three in Nur-Sultan and one in Almaty. So far, cancer patients in Karaganda have to go for examinations to one of these cities. The waiting time in the queue is now about three months. With the advent of the center of nuclear medicine in Karaganda, it will be significantly reduced. The agreement on the creation of the center is planned to be signed this week.
